How to improve your eczema with essential oils.

There are many essential oils that can benefit your skin. Today we are going to go over the essential oils that can help sooth and heal your eczema and which carrier oil would be best to use. Using the dilution chart provided you can mix up a batch of oil blends that suits you for treating your eczema.

I personal have read that jojoba oil (it is actually a wax) is a very good carrier oil to use when making up a mixture for eczema. It is nourishing and very gentle with sensitive skin. Jojoba reduces inflammation and irritations. It is a carrier oil that does not go rancid and has a very long shelf life. If you don't have jojoba oil then fractionated coconut oil can work well also.

Below are some essential oils that are good for eczema. Choose 3 or 4 of the oils listed below that you have on hand and smell best to you. Add them to a carrier oil and mix well.

balsam-heals dry cracked skin (blends well with cedarwood)

bergamot-heals, clears skin infection and eases skin irritations (blends well with lavender, geranium and palmarosa)

birch bud-anti-inflammatory

cedarwood-kills bacteria, prevents fungal infections and an astringent. (blends well with bergamont, juniper and lavender)

geranium-promotes speedy healing

helichrysum-anti allergenic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. (blends well with chamomile, geranium and lavender)

lavender-stimulates growth of new cells, prevents scarring, eases pain, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. (blends well with citrus oils, rosemary and geranium)

myrrh-reduces inflammation, weeping eczema and infections. (blends well with lavender)
palmrosa

rosemary-astringent and kills bacteria. (blends well with beramont, cedarwood citrus oils and lavender)

roman chamomile-kills bacteria, prevents infection and reduces inflammation.

I am going to choose 4 essential oils to make up a blend for my teenage son Jeremy. He suffers with severe on and off eczema of the face. I am choosing mine based on what I have on hand, what issues my sons skin has and what smells great to my senses. I will be using cedarwood, lavender, myrrh & geranium.I used jojoba oil in a 10ml dropper bottle and added 6 drops of lavender and 3 drop of each of the other three oils totaling 15 drops of essential oils. Making this a 5% dilution blend. Apply a small amount (2-3 drops) to affected area about two times per day.
